Sponsorships and Barter Agreements

Why be a corporate sponsor?

    • To capitalize on the unique dimension of the event
    • Emotional attachment, loyalty, and relationship building
    • To reach coveted demographics of in-depth fan base

Trade-out Value

Complimentary rental vehicles cost nothing "out of pocket" and are a great tool for effective advertising, local visibility, and promotion of the Thrifty name. Sponsorships have unlimited possibilities.

Contacts for Sponsorships

Who do you approach? Good people to start with are marketing personnel, athletic directors of local colleges and universities, professional sports teams, or coordinators of special events being held in your community.

Example: College sponsorship - trade out of dollar value for established days of free rental vehicles for athletic department. The fall and spring hold the heaviest demand for rental vehicles. Fifteen passenger vans and/or minivans are the most requested for both passenger and athletic equipment.

What are the possible benefits for the Thrifty corporate sponsor?

    • Full-page ads for event programs
    • Recognition of Thrifty name, logo, and product lines
    • Public address announcement during scheduled events
    • Media coverage
    • Preferred car rental (for example, a university association would make every effort to promote rentals for Thrifty, such as rates extended to opponents, fans, and out-of-state guests)
    • Complimentary tickets to scheduled events
    • Use as a "thank you for your patronage" for local corporate accounts
    • Employee rewards or incentive programs

Keys to successful sponsorship

  • Participate: Attend events, circulate, and network
  • Initiate: Be creative. Consult with contacts and brainstorm new ideas
  • Exposure: Visible signage (Thrifty banner, etc.) and materials

Trade for radio time

The normal trade is a 2-to-1 ratio. ($200 of airtime for $100 value rental)

!! The most important thing to remember is that every sponsorship is a unique experience and needs to be negotiated on an individual basis.
