Local Sales and Marketing Reference Guide

Film and Movie Industry

The following is a brief guide to obtaining film and movie business in your area.

We recommend subscribing to the trade publication The Hollywood Reporter (weekly edition), which will list movies in or about to be in production and the location(s) where they will be filmed.

Some other points to keep in mind:

  • Get to know the production companies' transportation coordinator in your area

  • Get to know the Film Bureau in your city/state

  • Look for listings of different Unions (i.e. - Producer's Unions, Director's Unions, etc.)

  • Find out if there is a shooting guide in your state.  Names of production companies, and contact information (phone, fax, and contact name) should be listed.

  • Get to know television production companies as well, if they shoot in your area.

  • Advertise in the guides

  • Service is VERY high on the film companies' lists.

Below are links to examples of the listings (and how to read them), sample letters and rate sheets, and advertisements.
